A simple checklist for your reading corner
Before moving any furniture, sit in your chosen spot with an open book. Does the light reach the page without your hand blocking it? Is there somewhere to put your book and cup? Can you sit comfortably without constantly shifting? Try the spot at the time of day you usually read. If it is a shared space, a small basket for your book, bookmark, and notebook can turn the same chair from a place to work into a place to read.
Start with somewhere you like to sit
A reading corner does not have to look like a photograph. It can be the end of the sofa, a chair by the window, or the kitchen table after things have quieted down. Choose somewhere you feel comfortable and leave the book you want to open there.
Keep a few things within reach
A good light, a bookmark, and a blanket may be enough. If you like writing down passages or ideas, add a notebook. The rest can wait: this space is about time spent with a book, not a shopping list.
Let reading find its own pace
Read two pages or a whole chapter. Return to a familiar book or begin a new one. A pleasant ritual does not need a daily target; it just needs a place that feels easy to return to.
